Why classic synthesizers such as Moog Model D are still completely relevant today
Moog’s Minuog Model D, a 50 -year -old synthesizer, is now available as a Mac application, and musicians are as excited as a new instrument. In the world of musical instruments, the greatest often is considered better. Part of this is nostalgia, inertia and the desire to copy past artists instead of creating new music. But part of this is that many of these old electric guitar designers, effects and synthesizers have understood the first time. The Minimoog is one of them. Born in 1970 and remains the plan for many modern synthesizers, its sound is in everything, from the 1970s to the Synth-Pop of the 80s, to the nine-inch and Portishead nails.

Moc Model D
The Moog software recreation of its classic synthesizer has existed on the iPad for some years and is considered one of the best “conversions” of software synthesizers. It sounds fantastic, like the original analog, and adds some extras that are not available in the material version.
The most important thing is that it is polyphonic. In other words, you can play more than one note at the same time, which makes agreements possible. It also has integrated effects, including delays and a looper, and can save and remember the preeggches instead of having to notice the positions of the buttons on a sheet of paper.
This iPad version also works in Mac Apple Silicon because these Mac can run many iOS applications. But now it is available as an appropriate autonomous application and as a complement, for all Mac, all DAW or Digital Audio work stations.
The minimoog is called a subtractive synthesizer. Use analog oscillators to generate sound waves, then a filter to eliminate frequencies (therefore, “subtractive”) of these waves to shape the sound and prevent it from sounding like retro Bleep-Bloop video games.
Other types of synthesis have been invented over the years, but sound waves are sound waves, and the Bob Moog subtractive method has proven to be robust and flexible and remains so useful today. If you want a low fat, use a MOOG. If you want a head of the head shouting, the same happens.
Like the electric guitar, the piano or any acoustic instrument before them, the minimumog, and other subtractive analog synthesizers, now it is a classic sound in its own right. We do not wonder why the violin is still relevant today, even if it pushes into increasingly experimental types of music, as well as the classic pieces of the past.
The same could be said classic synthesizers. Their sounds, moods and feelings that evoke, can be used to create nostalgia or to reverse expectations.
The angle of the material
For this article, I asked musicians why hardware is always important when there is software such as the model application D. after all, to play agreements and be able to open as many instances as you want, instead of limiting itself to the unique synthesizer sitting in the Desk, it would seem to be an obvious advantage. But there are many reasons to prefer software hardware. Another reason is that the team lasts longer.
